Team Sweden for the 2019 Motocross of Nations, which will be run in the sand of Assen, was announced over the weekend. Filip Bengtsson (MXGP), Alvin Ostlund (MX2) and Anton Gole (Open) will represent the nation at the end of September. Although that may not seem like an exceptional team on paper, all three riders are strong in the sand. A top-ten finish should be achievable for the Swedish.
Bengtsson has not competed in the FIM Motocross World Championship this season, but currently leads the MX1 title race in his domestic series. Ostlund is nineteenth in the MX2 class at the highest level and actually had a season-best finish, a ninth in a moto, in the bottomless sand of Lommel last weekend. Gole is twenty-fifth in the MXGP standings and has finished as high as thirteenth across the first fourteen rounds.
