Following a one-week hiatus, the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship will pick back up at the hard-pack circuit of Orlyonok this weekend. Who took advantage of the weekend off and managed to rest up? Three riders will return from injury this weekend, which is positive, but there are still seven riders on the sidelines.

In for the MXGP of Russia

Jeffrey Herlings: Jeffrey Herlings will finally return to racing at round eight of the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship, the Grand Prix of Russia. Herlings has already completed two national-championship races, Rhenen and Moggers, and's not at one hundred percent yet. The rebuilding process starts now.

Iker Larranaga: Iker Larranaga fractured his wrist at the Grand Prix of Portugal three weeks ago, but somehow returned to win the Spanish title last weekend and will return to the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship at Orlyonok. Twenty-first is the spot that he occupies in the championship standings.

Max Anstie: Max Anstie has had a torrid time in the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship, as bad luck has followed him from one country to the next, but he will return to action at the Grand Prix of Russia this weekend. Anstie took two weeks off to rest, recover and get back to his very best.

Out of the MXGP of Russia

Shaun Simpson: Shaun Simpson was having a steady time with RFX KTM in the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship but suffered a blow at the fourth 2019 Maxxis British Championship round last weekend and fractured the fifth metacarpal in his right hand. Simpson will miss Orlyonok and Kegums, but could return at Teutschenthal.

Marcel Conijn: Marcel Conijn, of the Gebben Van Venrooy Kawasaki team, crashed before the Grand Prix of Portugal and was left with a broken collarbone, as well as broken ribs. There is no timeline on his recovery. The beginning of his season has not been overly successful, as he has not yet scored points in MX2.

Conrad Mewse: Conrad Mewse crashed at round two of the 2019 Maxxis British Championship and sustained a wrist injury that has sidelined him for the last month. It sounds as though he still needs a month to recover, but he will return before the end of the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship. Loket could be a possibility.

Calvin Vlaanderen: Calvin Vlaanderen picked up an infection in his right leg prior to the Grand Prix of Portugal and had to go under the knife in order to clean that up. There is still no timeline on his recovery, but some have hinted that he could be back sooner rather than later. Watch this space.

Jose Butron: Jose Butron shattered his ankle whilst testing in the Czech Republic and will skip the remaining rounds of the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship. The injury is rather severe, hence why he needed to have a surgery that lasted for more than six hours, but he is adamant that he will be back next year.

Nathan Renkens: Nathan Renkens, who actually started his own team this season, fell at the Grand Prix of The Netherlands and tore his ACL. There is currently no timeline on his recovery, but he has had surgery and is out of the foreseeable. Renkens did not score a point before his injury.

Max Nagl: Max Nagl returned to racing at the second round of the ADAC MX Masters at the weekend and had a horrific crash on the start straight, but escaped with just a scratch on his back. The Grand Prix of Germany at Teutschenthal in two weeks is where he will make his return to the MXGP paddock.
